QUINN and Selena Li are sure to make you “Speechless” with this new release

Updated: Aug 10

This month, QUINN and Selena Li deliver an impressive blend of funky bass, crisp percussion and mesmerising vocals that’s sure to brighten up your day, wherever you are. All the elements here work perfectly in crafting this sense of pure bliss, from the incredible bass work to, of course, the star of the show - the amazing vocals that effortlessly drift over the rest of the backing. The duet between QUINN and Selena here, through the lyrical content and timbre created, emanates this almost dream-like ambience across the entire track; something that we at TMB personally cannot get enough of

Who are your influences?

QUINN: It’s easy to find influences in the Twitch.tv music community these days. It’s a community I’ve been a part of for a few years now, and I feel like as a group and as music producers we’ve all been growing together. Outside of that I’m influenced by Tom Misch, Kenny Beats, The Kount, Anderson Paak, DECAP, Mr. Carmack among others. (And of course Selena Li).

Selena Li: My influences are QUINN and the rest of the twitch community, my friends, Bruno Major, Beabadoobee.

Why do you make music?

QUINN: While it sounds real basic of me, music is my escape from work. I’ve been a musician my entire life, and being able to continue to explore new ideas within music at least a little bit every day is important to me.

Selena Li: I make music as a way to capture an emotional moment and share that feeling with others. I want to tell a story that people can connect with and hope that they feel something with they hear it.

What inspired you to make this release or rather, what were you thinking while making this release?

QUINN: I wish I had a concrete idea of what I was thinking of, but really I was just trying to make something that sounded cool. At the time I was watching a lot of The Kount’s videos on twitter, and I wanted to focus on creating a pocket, and maintaining a groove for this release.

Selena Li: QUINN's got amazing production and sound design skills, and I'm touched that he asked me to be a part of this.

How did you start off with music?

QUINN: My mother forced me to take piano lessons as a kid, and while I didn’t necessarily always appreciate it then, I certainly do now.

Selena Li: I started piano lessons at 7, and then I began making little 15-second covers of pop songs on my instagram (@selenaliii) in middle school. They're actually still there!

Where do you see yourself a year from now with music?

QUINN: The goal is to continue making weird sounds, and exploring new ideas. I don’t really care where I go with it as long as I’m having fun.

Selena Li: A year from now, I see myself progressing more with my production skills and putting out at least one cover and original song. I'm practicing just getting things out there and telling myself that it's important to finish projects! I'll continue collaborating with others too because it's always fun learning and growing with people
